I became an Independent ACN ™ Rep in 1995 mainly because a family member was excited, and I figured it made sense to try to take some money back from the rich monopolistic big three telephone companies at that time. Deregulation had created opportunities for people to save on exhorbitant per minute calling rates through newer companies like ACN, Cognigen, and others.

If you buy MLM Leads and try to contact them, it is quite likely that you will get an answering machine, bad number, someone else, or if you do get lucky and actually reach the lead they will more often than not say they are “Not interested”, that they never signed up for anything, demand to be removed from all lists, and end the call or hang up. Due to all the technology companies competing there is often low profit margin in telecomm residential services. Another competing technology MLM in which I was a member only payed 6-12% – and they were much better than some others. ACN commissions are higher than most in the technology sector but you need to factor in startup and recurring costs to get the true comparison. In traditional business earning a healthy profit is necessary and normal in order to stay in business. ACN is no different in that respect so you should calculate Gross Sales needed to cover all costs which will leave you with Gross Profit. Buying leads can be one of the higher costs when included over time.
Call me thin-skinned maybe – but I do not want to call angry leads for any opportunity, who are going to be defensive, disturbed, or even hostile in reaction to my phone call. It could be te afternoon where I live but late at night where they live. Maybe they were watching their favorite show, eating a late dinner, or even asleep already. Perhaps they work days, mids, nights – or even work 2-3 jobs these days – so no time is really a good to call them back. Most often leads will screen calls through their answering machines.
It is far better for you as a Marketer if you can drip market to your prospects, establishing some credibility and familiarity, allowing them to contact you when THEY are ready, excited, and open to communicate more freely. You can use Google’s free Gmail from any web browser and establish an account specifically for that purpose. You can even link your Google Gmail account to your PDA so you can get notified by Gmail via text message wherever you are immediately of a new inquiry to your drip marketing campaign.

Starting and developing an ACN business could be lucrative if you know how to affordably and effectively use the telephone, the Internet, and other modern marketing tools. Just as with any good business, success will be determined largely by the skill-set of the marketer. ACN is definitely not a lottery ticket or a stock option – meaning, you do not just buy in and wait for a payout.
Most new MLM Reps will eventually turn to purchasing leads to try to build their business. After a few calls they soon discover that the leads have been called many times already and don’t want to hear from another person about another network marketing product or opportunity. The new Rep’s dreams and hopes of making a secondary income are often shattered, leaving them with less money and less dignity than before they ever started.
Simpler than that, the entire IGB TEAM and I just Buy Customers. Now that we know how leads are generated we refuse to purchase leads. I have done it and don’t like it at all! In my opinion it is a waste of money and not duplicable. I have heard stories of people being hung up on, cursed at, or worse.
