There is a Buzz on the Internet and Its about Buying Customers – Not leads.
A few years ago I was introduced to a company called Usana. After a period of time I had used all of my sources of people I knew etc and had to start buying Usana leads.
Firstly though here are a few of the things that impressed me about Usana. They had actually been in business since 1992 and that they produced all of their own product. There was no outsourcing. So what did that tell me? It showed me that they took responsibility for what they produced. There are a lot of MLM companies who out source and if and when there is a customer complaint they distance themselves from it.
With all the choices on the Internet today, it’s becoming increasingly more difficult to decide on which network marketing company is best for you. Do you know how you will be building your home based business and creating a residual income? Do you want to go with a start up company or look for a well established company? It is far better in my opinion to go with companies that have been around for a few years. But even then there was the problem that I had to eventually resort to using Usana leads.

I have been a Network Marketer for a number of years and I’ve seen a lot of people come and go in this industry. Buy Customers Not Leads – Its Good Business

Did you know that the average US household has over $8,000 in credit card debt? People live from paycheck to paycheck, we don’t spend enough time with our children. 40% of us are unsure of what retirement will bring for us. 50% of bankruptcies are brought about by illness bad debt. Maybe, just maybe things could get worse.

Does any of the above ring true to you? Is that why you started your network Work From Home with Usana? I don’t think it was the reason that I started with Usana but I was aware that the wellness industry was gaining momentum, not to mention the fact that I am a baby boomer (did you know we made up one third of the population) and I wanted to make sure I was giving myself a reasonable show of enjoying my latter years. After doing some further research I found that the health and wellness industry was going to be a trillion dollar industry.

So, going back a bit, I went in search of a company that would fulfill my requirements. What was I after? Something that was well established, something with absolutely no hype attached to it, a company experienced in the wellness field, you know the drill I think. Anyway I found a company called Usana, it was founded in 1992 by Dr Myron Wentz and Usana produced all of their own product. There was no outsourcing. So what did that tell me? It showed me that they took responsibility for what they produced. There are a lot of MLM companies who out source and if and when there is a customer complaint they distance themselves from it.

Here is a pertinent point to my story, in 2001 the active customer base had grown from 97,000 to 254,000 in 2007.

So I joined and had an active up line, I took three business positions, it was full ahead steam for me. Or so I thought!

I came to a screeching realization that I was going to need some Usana leads, that was after I had exhausted my so called warm market.

So I needed Leads, quality targeted Usana leads, and after some considerable time I found out the following:

Don’t waste your time and money buying Usana leads! Leads are a costly and time consuming way of building your business. If you are lucky AND you have a great list you may get 1-3% of this purchased leads list actually interested in what you have to offer! That is considered the industry average for leads lists. What that means is, for every one hundred people on your leads list, only 1 – 3 people will even want to hear anything about what you have to offer! When you look at how much you pay for your list, divide by 3, to get the average cost you are paying for people showing interest. Let’s say you purchase a bottom end list and spend $100 for 100 leads. $100 / 3 = $33 per interested lead.

The next step is the cost of your time. How much is your time worth? That is for you to determine but let’s say all you think your time is worth is $5.00 per hour (that’s less than a minimum wage worker by the way). It is not uncommon for entrepreneurs to spend hours with a prospect who is showing interest in their business, product or service. So let’s say you are real lucky and you only have to spend 20 hours per prospect developing a relationship by providing information, answering questions, or giving presentations so your prospect can make a “buying decision”. Now you have 20 hours X $5.00 = $100 per prospect. The actual cost per person from your Usana lead list is $100 + $33 = $133 per business customer relationship.

What if you value your time at say $20 per hour, which by employment standards is probably at the low end of a good wage, your cost from lead to business relationship is $20 X 20 hours = $400 + $33 = $433 per person. So if all 3 leads decide to enter into a business customer relationship with you, your actual cost for developing those relationships is $433 X 3 = $1299.

How to Test The Health of Your Business

Which do you prefer – calling your Usana leads (I obsoletely hate calling leads) or just buying customer’s?

Are you a slave to your computer and Home Based Business
, having to recruit people every month and I mean every month? If so, you are not alone. Although many network marketing companies offer good value in terms of products and services, many of them, including Usana have qualifications in place every month that distributors must meet to receive all the compensation benefits. It’s just a reality in the MLM industry. The industry is structured in such a way that it seems every time you get a distributor in the front door, one goes out the back door. Chasing the holy grail, so to speak.

I don’t know about you, but I used to do that and hated it, meeting the requirements each month. I’m reminded about that each time I call someone I personally know in one of those companies at the end of the month and they are scrambling to make sure everyone is qualified. I was talking to someone the other day and she was telling me she had about 8 hours worth of calls to do because it was the end of the month. Those calls were to her distributors, to make sure they were on track. I was totally stunned, but glad that I never have to do that, anymore.

By the way, I am not picking on Usana because they are a very good company with excellent health and wellness products. Usana has been a leader in the network marketing industry since the early 90′s. Speaking of Usana, how do you build your Usana home business? Do you make a list, talk to your friends and family, or worse buy and call your Usana leads? Don’t like it? Well there is a better way than calling your Usana leads.

There has been a new paradigm shift in developing a home based business and a residual income by buying an asset, as opposed to having a liability. Yes, you heard me correctly. The vast majority of MLM companies are set up so that you are actually buying a liability.

When you first get started in your new home based business, you have to buy some product, which I have no problem with. Don’t Buy Usana Leads, Buy Customers Instead – Its Good Business. Wow that sounds like something new, and it is and you will be blown away when you research this.

We are all searching for the holy grail, so to speak. There are so many opportunities put in front of you on a daily basis that it becomes a pain in the B….It is a shame that most businesses/opportunities, call them whatever you like are never what they seem. Everything sounds great it is a challenge to even know where to start. So where the heck do you start your search for a home business?

If you are looking at network marketing, consider going with established companies. Why? Because they have overcome the challenge of being a viable business during the first 2 or 3 years. With start up companies, there are risks associated with it no matter how good it may seem. Most everything I have read recommends going with companies that have been around for several years. Everything as far as the research was concerned was spot on, projected growth etc.

Let’s face it, MLM is not the easiest business in the world, and if you have your head screwed on right it is a ‘get rich slow’ scheme. It takes a long time and quite a bit of sweat and tears to get to where you want to go. You have to be a good recruiter, but in order to recruit you have to get prospects and you get prospects from leads, Usana leads in my case. They know they want all the money that MLM is supposed to have associated with it, but they have no idea why they want it, and there is the problem. Simply knowing that you want the money or anything else for that matter is not enough. You should be asking yourself why you want the money. You must know your WHY.

This is the main reason why so many people drop like flies upon entry of the MLM industry. They become overwhelmed by the amount of work that they need to put into their business in order for it to prosper, and they don’t even know why they want to build it in the first place.

Your WHY is everything, let me repeat, YOUR WHY IS EVERYTHING, and far too many people over look it, when they really shouldn’t. All too often I see
leaders overlooking this point, when finding their prospect’s WHY is one of, if not the first thing they should go over with them when they recruit them.

Your WHY has to be something that is strong enough to push you through the tough times that you are going to have while building your business. Maybe
your WHY is related to money but it doesn’t have to be. Mine, for instance, has to do with where my three daughters live. They are all in three different directions from where I live, about 15 hours drive to each and my why is related to being able to visit whenever I want and not to rely on them for accommodation.

Your WHY will help you succeed.

Does the following comment sound familiar? You just got started in Usana as an IBO and your sponsor asked you to contact your friends, family, and anyone you know, yes ANYONE. So being the type of person you are and the fact that you really want to make a go of this business, you go about getting your new venture up and running. Well, when I first heard about the concept, it was foreign to me. I had been working as an Independent Associate of Usana for a few years. But I was getting tired of the old fashion ways to build my Usana business. Let me explain.
I am not putting Usana down in any way, I think the company is a fantastic company with excellent products, they manufacture their own. They are good to their associates, they have been around for many years. Credibility is a word that also comes to mind about Usana.
I had an excellent sponsor, who offered as much help to me as I needed, amongst his group we formed a cooperative to share advertising expenses and leads. Yes, we generated our own leads via pay per click. So they were not like leads that you buy from a lead generation company, they had not been resold many times, they were really targeted, they were fresher than fresh. How fresh is a Usana lead that you buy from a lead generation company, you will never know.
Guess what? It still cost us as much as leads that you buy from these companies. But we were all very happy to have our very own, fresh, targeted Usana leads that we could call.
Our experiences, which we shared (a good thing to do) were not good. We all had very similar statistics. We all had phone numbers which were non existent, people who did not want to talk, people who denied filling out our lead capture form, people who did not want to start a home business let alone MLM. Pretty negative results. We also ran newspaper ads with similar results. After about twelve months of really giving Usana a good go I was starting to think negatively about why I was doing this business. I needed to start seeing some light at the end of the tunnel, one of the reasons for starting my Usana business was to make some money, so far I had not made much and had spent a considerable amount.
We all have friends in this industry, and they are not all in the same company as you. One of my friends suggested to me that I should look at a new way of working my MLM business and instead of generating my own Usana leads to buy customers instead. The vast majority of people in network marketing have never been exposed to the concept of buying customers. I used to be in an excellent MLM company called Usana and I am going to chat a little about how Usana works for distributors and let you know a little about a new way of doing MLM, it’s called buying customers. There are many companies and many ways to build a home based business today in network marketing. One way is what is called duplication, and it includes calling all of your friends, family and buying leads, including Usana leads. With so many choices today, where should you start?

Usana ranks with the bigger MLM companies today and has been around since the early 1990′s. As I said I used to be an Independent Associate with them and they have some excellent health products as well as some beauty products, not to forget a business opportunity to earn a residual income.

This statement was on the front of the Usana website talking about the increase in home based businesses. An increase of twenty times is quite a staggering figure but proves that people from all walks of life are looking to create additional methods of income. With inflation running rampant in some parts of the world and the United States in a recession all populations are looking to uncover methods of passive income.

Turning to Usana is one good choice but like many other MLM or Network Marketing companies it is very difficult to attract people to the business simply because many have been burned by these companies before. How are they burned? Well they are told that they are building their own business and that they have to spend their own money to advertise the products. They have to buy leads and call them, to get people to join the business, and when calling the purchased leads they get hang ups and lots of other rudeness. How Truthful Are The MLM or Network Marketing Companies?

One of the important points to look for is truth behind information. In this day of high interest rates and people losing jobs many are looking for alternative streams of income. Usually they will turn to the internet for their solution and Google terms like MLM or network marketing, home business, or other keywords that will give them results allowing them to investigate places to create wealth.

This is where the breakdown occurs. Many of these sites representing MLM or Network Marketing businesses promise quick wealth and success attracting many to put their money into the respective business with hopes of riches that will solve their problems.

What actually happens is the respective MLM or Network Marketing Companies grow quicker and faster. They promise wealth to individuals but are unwilling to assist them in getting it. When a MLM or Network Marketing company attracts a new distributor, each one has a specific dollar value to the MLM Company. They know when you join their company that you are worth a specific amount of money based on the excitement level that you join with. Even thought the cards are stacked against you in the MLM or Network Marketing industry there is a business model that has creatively destructed the traditional MLM model. This business model is based on buying customers and not leads. In the MLM models that I have discussed above all are based on you building your own business through marketing and advertising. The expense is all on you and the results are dismal. The MLM Company gives you no assistance in selling to the end user which in most cases they are not skilled in selling to a consumer. They are only skilled in selling to distributors and letting you sell to the consumer and other distributors.

The buy customers not leads model is skilled in selling products to the end user, the customer, and then selling the buying customer to you the business affiliate. Why would they do this you ask? They are able to reduce down their marketing budgets by recouping some of their cost in selling the customer to the BA [Business Affiliate]. They have created multiple streams of revenue.

This model has no failure rate since there are customers right from the beginning and revenue received at the inception when the BA joins the group.
